Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
What is a shotshell wad?
A shotshell wad is a component used within a shotgun shell. Wad designs vary according to gauge, hull, shot charge, and other specifications of the published load.
Are shotshell wads interchangeable?
Not necessarily. Wads that appear similar can have different dimensions and characteristics. Use the wad specified in reliable published load data or an explicitly approved equivalent.
How do I choose the correct shotshell wad?
Start with published load data for the exact gauge, hull, primer, powder, shot charge, and wad combination being used.
Are shotshell wads specific to shotgun gauge?
Yes. Wads are designed for particular gauges and applications, so the gauge should be prominently identified when selecting a product.
What information should I check when buying shotshell wads?
Check the manufacturer, product number, gauge, intended shot charge or capacity, hull compatibility, and applicable published load information.
